THE THREE CITIES - across the Grand Harbour, south of
Valletta, are the historical fortified towns of VITTORIOSA,
COSPICUA & SENGLEA, commonly referred to
as the three cities.

Originally one of the earliest medieval parishes. It
serves as the Conventual Church of the knights prior
to St. John's Cathedral. The present church is a fine
Roman Baroque structure designed and built under the
direction of Lorenzo Gafa.

The old naval Bakeryof the British Naval Headquarters
at Fort St. Angelo, the Museum relates Malta's maritime
history from early times to the present day.

The church was built to commemorate the Great Siege
Victory of 1556, it is dedicated to Our Lady of Victories.
The church was elevated to the status of a Basilica
in 1921. |

Today a typical Maltese fishing village - in 1565 the
Turkishforces invaded Malta from the shores of the village
- 1798, the Knights surrendered to Napoleon's troops
who also landed in the port of Marsaxlokk.
